My Name is Meredith, I am an RNC, which stands for Registered Nurse Certified.  ( Not Certifiable : ) )  I currently work in Obstetrics-Labor and Delivery, Triage, SCN-Special Care Nursery and PP-Postpartum for 10 years now.  Before that I worked in a Step down from SICU-Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac and Vascular surgeries mostly with telemetry ( Cardiac Monitoring ) for 4 years.  Previous to that I worked for 1 year on a General Medical Surgery floor, with EVERYTHING under the sun ! At the beginning of my career I worked at a nursing home and a school for multipley handicapped children for about 2 1/2 years.

I’ve wanted to be a nurse for as long as I can remember, although I couldn’t give you any specifics as to why.  My father has a picture of me in my Aunt’s nurse’s cap when I was about 8 or 9 years old.  Maybe that influenced my desire to be a nurse.  All through high school I took college prep.  I went to nursing school right out of high school and graduated with my Associates Degree in Nursing when I was 20.

Although I’ve worked in many fields, I consider OB my specialty.  I am now an RNC in Maternal Newborn Nursing.  Thats a HUGE exam after much studying.  I also teach Childbirth Education classes and help with leading a new Postpartum Depression Support group, titled ” A brighter tomorrow.”  I felt especially led to help with this, as I suffered through PPD after my sons birth and there was no such thing as a support group for it then.

I also was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, IDC- Invasive Ductal Incarcinoma, had surgery and followed by Chemotherapy and Radiation.  That was a treat !

I hope to be a help to all women in any way I can through this blog, god bless.
